Biography

My name is Dr. Gregory D. Moore Jr. I am a native of Leeds, Alabama and a graduate of Leeds High School. I attended Faulkner University on a basketball scholarship and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. My journey in education began in St. Clair County at Moody High School, where I taught English and served as the head boy's basketball coach for four years. While at Moody, I completed the Fifth Year Program at UAB receiving a masters degree in Secondary English Language Arts.

Upon leaving Moody High School, I took a position at E.B. Erwin High School as an English Teacher and Head Boy's Basketball Coach, where I remained for three years. While at E.B. Erwin High School, I received my administration certification. In November of my fourth year at E.B. Erwin High School, I was asked to take an assistant principal position at Pinson Valley High School. I served as an assistant principal at Pinson Valley High for eight years. While at Pinson Valley High School, I received my Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership.

After leaving Pinson Valley High School, I served as an assistant principal at Chalkville Elementary School for two years. From CES, I started my first job as a school principal at Springville Elementary, where I served for three years.  In fall of 2020, I became principal at Springville High School.

This is my twenty-fourth year in education, and I recently completed my Ed.D from Samford University. In addition to serving Springville High School, I serve as a Hope Fellow with Hope Institute, which has allowed Springville High School to host character leaders of schools to share intentionality towards character education.  I have also had many opportunities to speak at professional development activities, principal symposiums, and character conferences.

I look forward to continuing to serve in the Springville community as SHS principal, and I am a tiger!
