Biography

My name is Karen New, and this school year (2024/2025) starts my 14th year as a counselor at Springville High School and my 21st year as a counselor.  I received my Masters in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University in 2003 and received my Education Specialist degree in School Counseling from University of West Alabama in 2015.

I am married to William "Bubba" New, who served in the military for 27 years.  I have 2 sons, Chip and Casey, and 2 stepsons, Brady and Nick.  My son Chip lives in Chicago and my son Casey lives in Canada.  Brady and Nick work for their father in the family-owned construction business.  I have two beautiful granddaughters, Rynlee and Josie, and one adorable grandson, Collin.

I love to read, spending time with family, and shopping!! I also love to watch football! Roll Tide!

I love working at Springville High School. We have some of the most amazing students here at SHS!  I am looking forward to a great year!  Please know I am always available to talk or listen.
